HIGGINBOTTOM CONTINUES HIS RAPID RISE AT NSW PGA

Lake Macquarie teenager Jake Higginbottom, has surprised almost everyone at the New South Wales PGA Championship, finishing the first round as equal leader, alongside Andre Stolz from the Central Coast.
The event has been reduced to 54 holes because of wet weather, but that didn’t bother Higginbottom.
The 17 year old’s round included eight birdies and an eagle.
“Started really well, hitting it good and rolling putts in so it was good.”
The amateur will now look to stick with professionals such as Stolz, who also finished at eight under.
Craig Parry sits four shots back heading into the second round.
