HUNTER LEADING BY EXAMPLE

A state mining conference has heard the Upper Hunter is leading the way in monitoring coal dust pollution.
Four stations in the region currently keep tabs on air quality in real time – 14 will eventually be rolled out.
The latest technology in mine rehabilitation, and community engagement practices were also tabled at the conference in Wollongong.
Environmentalist Tim Flannery was there “The message I’ll be giving is good strong environmental regulation is the industry’s safeguard for a prosperous future, cause otherwise they will be judged on the worst performance in their sector”
