CENOTAPH DECISION LOOMS
The future of Port Macquarie’s town cenotaph will be decided at tomorrow night’s council meeting.
The structure is being undermined by damaging tree roots from two nearby Norfolk Island Pines.
Three options had been put forward to solve the problem, including reinforcing the cenotaph’s foundations, removing the trees, or moving the monument.
However, public consultation unearthed a fourth option, which has now been put forward as the recommended choice.
It involves removing one tree and centring the cenotaph between the remaining tree and another nearby.
