Much-needed extra parking will be provided ahead of the major redevelopment of Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
Work will begin within the next 10 months to provide an additional 200 spaces, mostly to be used by staff.
The extra parking will be located on the eastern side of the site, freeing up more spaces closer to the main entrance and cancer centre for patients and visitors.
Work on the $110-million upgrade of the hospital is expected to start in about 12 months.
The redevelopment includes an extra 70 beds, an expanded emergency department and nine new operating theatres.
