EMERGENCY SERVICES FREE CYCLIST FROM UNDER BUS

A male cyclist has been taken to hospital with several injuries, after he collided with a bus at Lake Macquarie this morning.

Emergency services were called to The Boulevard at Toronto just before 10am.

The cyclist – believed to be aged in his 60s –  was trapped for around 20-minutes, before being freed by Fire and Rescue NSW personnel.

Paramedics treated the man for pain to his shoulder and lower back. It’s also believed he suffered a pelvic injury and a cut to his leg.

He was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatement.

Meanwhile 18 passengers were evacuated from a bus along the M1 at Somersby, after it caught fire this morning.

Southbound lanes remain closed, with diversions in place via Ourimbah.
