  1. Its an awful idea, What kind of people is this going to attract?
I think the money for this brothel should be used for something along the lines of a youth club or something useful.

  2. My family is not impressed (again!) with NBN (and more generally the Nine Network) for this time announcing the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest in the 6 p.m. news bulletin. There was absolutely no warning (as in the lead in to the ad brake saying ‘this is coming up’), so is obviously a blatant attempt by NBN to spoil this for those who may have intended to watch it. So, what a pathetic action on your part to try and sway viewers back to viewing Channel Nine in this time slot.

As this follows on from A Current Affair (admittedly a national program, but still screened by NBN) and its steady decline in respectability over many years as a current affairs program; plus the disgusting Two and a Half Men that you choose to thrust on us unexpectedly through program ads when our children are still watching……..

I could go on but will not waste my time. My families’ viewing habits will now definitively move away from the Nine Network to more respectable and trustworthy networks.

    Thanks ……. for nothing!

  3. Note : I realise that my earlier comment is ‘off topic’, but I could not easily see how to add a new thread. Apologies to those interested in the stated topic.

  4. I do not condone prostitution in any manner, however the prevention of prostitution will not occur through subjecting workers to the streets or using their own homes. Until the day that prostitution no longer exist, dont force women into back alleys, give them a safe haven with security, so that your not implying it’s ok for women to be regularly assulted due to their chosen profession …. ensure the management of the brothel is carried out in a professional respectful manner. Moving prostitution to someone else “backyard” or on the streets does not prevent it. Ensuring the women of our society respect themselves and feel self value reduces prostitution.

  5. You,ve got to be joking!!!! I have been hoping the government would introduce some type of rent to buy scheme for the commission homes lining the streets in that area and finally build up the area to a more pleasant appearance to the eye considering Awaba road is a main road to and from the expressway to sydney thus being the first impression people see of our beautiful town on the lake- also considering the not so new estate up behind the indoor swim centre where the land is cheap but hasn,t budged in years simply because of the commission homes you have to drive past to get to it. Personally the area has a bad vibe associated with it. We need to lift that area up to its potential NOT further degrade it by adding a Brothel. Oh and one more thing if you buy industrial land in and around Elford street Toronto to build your commercial shed for business the Council make you pay for the curve and guttering yourself -how slack, Like that,s encouraging. Just another reason we bought commercial property in Warners Bay instead ,yet live in Toronto. Say No to the Brothel.

  6. I say YES to a brothel in Toronto, If people who use the brothel is the “wrong crowd” then the “wrong crowd” is already in the area.

  7. My missus wont put out, so why should I have to drive into town to visit a brothel?
So I say Yes for a well over due brothel in the toronto area.

  8. This opposition to a sex work establishment at Toronto is a joke: anyone who knows the area will be aware that it is already a no go area for police because it is full of criminal kids and their dole bludging, welfare cheating parents. Bulldoze the whole place and clean up the scum.

  9. You do not want a brothel in your back yard. The city of Newcastle is fast becoming a town that has wall to wall prostitution.Having done social work with Prostitutes some years back, I am well aware of their impact on a community and the family unit that they have. ninety eight percent of clients are married men according to the statistics that were available at that time.Again from the statistics gathered approximatley 80 percent came from outside the suburb of the establishment. At that time unmarried mothers from the suburbs were the main workers, for some it was a chosen career, for the majority it was support for their family because they had to jump so many hurdles to get back into a legitimate income stream, so it was not their career of choice. Today that worker base has been dominated by overseas workers mainly from Asia. Drugs have always been a part of the scene, with those who become addicts leaving the brothels and working the streets to capitalise on their income. The area of Toronto that this new establishment will be located in is already a problem area, it has a long history of that, even when I was a boy . With young families being raised in the Forest Lake area, its not an iseal situation. And for those Husbands who justify their use of these facilities because their partner doesnt put out , your money would be better spent on getting counciling for your marriage, counciling for your sexual problems or taking your family on a holiday so you can all get to appreciate each other. On another note, whilst I dont approve of Mathew Johns behaviour, he did fess up to his wife and that should have been the end of it. but to drag him across the coals for something he did with a willing partner is so hypocrytical when anyone can pay money at get the same group sex at a brothel, but thats acceptable…….really…what has society and the media come to

  10. Toronto is not called Cessnock by the Sea for nothing. It always has been a low socio-economic area and will continue to be, regardless of the waterfront location. A brothel is preferable to prostitutes walking the streets isn’t it?

I agree with Kim’s comments regarding Matthew Johns.

  11. i say bring the brothel to toronto because it already has a bad name and the brothel will bring more money to the town

  12. To say the brothel will bring more money to town is an ignorant statement of the obvious, All brothels, legal or illegal cost the taxpayers more than they are worth with social issues, health inspectors, Police time and effort wasted and the drug users who use the facility and rob a few houses whilst they are in the area. The statistics clearly are against society on who gains the most money. Clearly the Brothel owner isnt going to pay for the side issues. This trade has always been with society, it isnt going to go away tomorrow. but if you want sex, then try your wife for a change,if you give her the time and attention, she will give you more fulfilment than a prostitute. There are to many children whos lives have been smashed on the rocks through divorce. Its time we all woke up and took a real look at our actions.

  13. I have worked in this industry for quite some time – and all I can say is, that all the negative comments are coming from small minded people who really don’t understand the industry at all. Brothels are not just about sex, and workers are not just the low life of society, who take drugs & bring problems. What a load of rubbish. Sex Workers council people, they support lonely people, they give a service to persons who normally could not approach women (build their self esteem), they help stop RAPES and people coercing unwanted sex, they deal with persons who have fettishes because of abuse they have suffered while growning up, they put up with alot of abuse, as can be clearly seen by the above comments – and yet, they are still there for your community.

They also deal with Sex Offenders, where they are put back into YOUR community, so that they do not prowl on YOU or YOUR daughters. Wake up to yourselves and realise, that if persons are applying to open a brothel in Toronto, it is because it is needed. No one would want to open a brothel in an area, where the business & requirements are not needed.

And as for the woman/women who fear that their husbands will go there, guess what lovely, they probably already do, just in another area. And to continue to put down sex workers (which is discrimination), especially when you really do not understand the industry and the workers, or the people who attend these premises (like men who may have been faithfully married all their lives & now their wife has died), just shows your lack of knowledge & narrow mindedness. Brothels also teach persons Safe Sex Practises, so that diseases don’t continue to spread in your area. They teach men how to go home and pleasure their wives, without any strings attached (so as not to interfere in marriages, like if they picked up at the pub, and then their one night stand wants him to leave his family).

And as far as women who want to put down sex workers, take a good look at yourselves and tell me that you have never got a “gift” off a male, after having sex with him – prostitute. That you never married a man because he had money – prostitute. And you never spent any of your partner/lovers money on a treat for yourself – prostitute. Oh, and what about that car you drive, was that a gift after having much good sex with a man – prostitute. Oh, see, when you point the finger at someone, three are pointing right back at you !!!

And the so-called counsellor who claims to have worked with Sex Workers, you’re a lier or else you must have really messed up quite a few peoples heads. I have been in the industry for many many years now – I DO NOT TAKE DRUGS, and I AM NOT A HOME WRECKER. I guess this world takes all kinds, and it appears especially discriminatory types in the area of Toronto – the so-called “prestigious”. I have never laughed so hard in all of my life HA HA HA HA !!!
No wonder your husbands NEED this service, as they are tired of all YOUR put downs and negative comments.
