It appears that any chance of an ownership takeover of Jack Neal Oval by Taree City Council is gone with time running out on its memorandum of understanding with Taree Leagues and Sports Club.
It was hoped that once council took ownership of the facility it would be eligible to receive much needed government funding for ground improvements, however long-running disagreements between the two parties meant a deal couldn’t be struck
The League’s Club spends close to $30,000 a year to maintain the field but cannot receive assistance because the oval is privately owned.
