The North Coast Area Health District is hitting back at reports that the Casino Hospital’s maternity ward may have to be downgraded.
Despite a significant drop in birth numbers, the service insists the ward will continue to operate as long as its obstetrician stays on.
North Coast Health District’s Chris Crawford says Northern Rivers mums have no need to panic over the standard and efficiency of the region’s maternity health services.
“Expectant mothers need not worry, they’ve got an excellent service here in Lismore and low risk service being offered to them at Casino hospital and Mullumbimby hospital.”
