Lamon Street fig tree advocates took advantage of today’s perfect weather, to hold a picnic at Civic Park to promote their cause, ahead of Newcastle Council’s meeting on Tuesday night.
The group passionately wants the figs to stay, with a plea issued to each of the seven councillors who previously voted to get rid of the trees.
They were joined by soldiers who took aim at the council building, over the fencing of a memorial park.
