LAKE DREDGING COMPLETE

As the weather starts to warm up, two of Wallis Lake’s main navigation channels have been dredged.
The project has ensured that the Breckenridge and Jonnel Cove Channels will have at least two metres depth at the lowest tide, ensuring safe passage for commercial and recreational vessels.
5000 cubic metres of sand will be deposited at the northern end of Miles Island, while the rest is being temporarily stored at Point Road and will be used as clean fill.
A combination of state government funding and money from the council’s dredging rate has paid for the works.
