A man has died and another has suffered critical chest injuries after a fire fighting helicopter crashed at Dorrigo, on the New South Wales mid north coast.
The Rural Fire Service says the chopper crashed while fighting a blaze in the Dorrigo National Park at 11.30 this morning.
Police are finding it hard to get information from the scene because of its isolated nature.
The injured person has been airlifed to hospital.
