FORENSIC TESTS REJECTED ON ALLEGED TEEN KILLER

A magistrate has rejected requests for further forensic tests on a 17-year-old boy accused of killing his mother.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with murder and stealing and driving a car without consent after the death of a 48-year-old woman in Suffolk Park in April.

He appeared via video link in Lismore’s Children’s Court today, when the director of public prosecutions applied for fingernail clippings and hand swab forensic tests.

However the magistrate dismissed the application saying any evidence from the alleged crime would have disappeared.
