40 Angus & Robertson bookstores, including four in the Hunter, will close within four weeks.
It comes hot on the heels of the demise of the Borders chain, with both companies owned by Red Group owing $118-million.
Administrator Ferrier Hodgson says up to 40 jobs will be lost in the Hunter due to these latest closures.
Angus & Robertson’s Hunter Street store was the first to shut its doors when Red Group entered voluntary administration in February.
