Moree police are warning residents to lock up or lose it – following a spate of crime in the area.
Police have recorded an increase in thefts from motor vehicles, but say most incidents could have been avoided if owners had simply locked their car doors.
In a bid to reduce the crime rate, officers will issue fines starting $86 for anyone is found to have left their vehicles running and unsecured.
Anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity is asked to contact Moree police.
