NORTH COAST CANCER CARE SET TO IMPROVE
Many cancer patients in the northern rivers won’t have to travel far for radiation therapy thanks to $2.6-million from the federal government for a state of the art machine.
By November, the Lismore Base Hospital’s Cancer Centre will have it’s second Linear Accelerator, a highly technical piece of equipment that administers radiation therapy.
“Up to an extra 30 patients a day can be treated and it means around 400 people per year will not have to travel to Brisbane, to Coffs or to Newcastle for their treatment”
The government will donate a further $5.6-million dollars for clinical training infrastructure for Lismore, Ballina and Grafton.
