WILD WEATHER MOVING NORTH

The gale-force winds and storms which hit New South Wales overnight are expected to move north throughout the day.

A severe weather warning remains in place for the Hunter, mid north coast and northern rivers.

Those regions are also being warned to brace for flash flooding, with up to 100 millimetres of rain expected.

Newcastle received 150 millimetres in the 24 hours till nine o’clock this morning.

The 100 kilometres an hour winds which have already lashed Sydney and the Hunter are now forecast for the north of the state.

Residents are being warned to secure loose items and keep pets inside.

The SES has so far responded to calls for water damage.
