BALLINA LAUNCHES GREEN BIN

Ballina residents will soon be able to recycle more with a garden and organics waste service to roll out from July 4.

Council will provide households with a new green bin in which to dump food scraps, tea bags and garden clippings each week.

The red waste and yellow recycle bins will be collected fortnightly.

The additional service will allow up to 50 per cent more recycling.

“we calculated some 4,000 tonnes of material that was previously going to landfill will now be recycled”

Smaller bins and compostable bags will also be availbale free from council’s waste management centre to help manage kitchen scraps.
