RENTAL VACANCY RATES RISE

There’s some good news for those looking to enter the Hunter Valley’s rental market, with vacancy rates rising to 2.2 per cent.

The Real Estate Institute of New South Wales says a 0.4 per cent rise across the Hunter region was recorded in January

The market’s slightly tighter in Newcastle with just 2-per-cent of properties available for rent.

But renters are being warned to snap up a vacancy while they can, with the market expected to tighten again, thanks to changed to the Residential Tenancy Act.
