They’re being called the answer to prevent another Laman Street fig disaster.
Councillors will tonight be asked to spend nearly a quarter of a million dollars on tree vault units to use when new figs are planted as part of the redevelopment in the famous Newcastle street.
“So the idea of this is to create space for a healthy root system and reduce the interaction and impact on the infrastructure.”
The interlocking root vaults have been used successfully in Holland.
