The official ribbon cutting hasn’t happened yet but Newcastle’s newest skatepark is already proving popular.
The long summer days see skaters descend on the Bar Beach park toward evening when the council work crews have finished for the day.
A specially designed bowl is creating a lot of interest from spectators as accomplished skaters show off their skills. There’s also an area with steps, rails and boxes for those not quite ready to enter the deep end.
NBN News cameraman Pete McDonald, dodged the odd flying skatey for a peek at the new park.
