Hundreds have farewelled Newcastle’s grandfather of sport, Kevin Smith.
The founding Knights director’s sons and grandchildren led the final goodbye at Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Mr Smith was remembered for his selflessness as well as his dedication to surf life saving and rugby league.
“He not only made a generous contribution to the Knights but underpinning that there was so many things he did that bolstered that contribution to the Knights.”
He died on Christmas Day aged 80.
