The big deluge on the north coast has washed out the Summerland Pairs bowling tournament in Ballina.
This morning 32 teams braved the rain for day one of the competition.
The wet conditions challenging even the most experienced players.
“Its a great equaliser, greens get a lot slower so it brings everyone out into it a bit, probably not as skillful as it could be if it was quicker”
But after several hours of rain, organisers were forced to cancel the entire tournament.
“Since 1964 its only been cancelled once and that was the singles, the pairs have never been cancelled”
