MORE STRIKES OFF THE CARDS FOR NOW

Nurses and midwives working at public hospitals from Taree to Tweed Heads won’t be taking part in any more industrial action over minimum staff to patient ratios – for now.

The New South Wales Nurses Association has decided not to go ahead with bed closures and service restrictions, after the state government agreed to discuss its demands.

Negotiations will continue tomorrow under the supervision of the Industrial Relations Commission.

The move follows a state-wide nursing strike on Wednesday.
