- Amirah Droudis – the girlfriend of Lindt siege gunman Man Monis will spend at least 33 years behind bars for killing the terrorist’s ex-wife. The maximum 44 year sentence was handed down a short time ago – the judge in the case saying it was a brutal and callous attack and Droudis did not appear remorseful.
- There’s confusion over whether the US will honour a deal made with Australia to resettle refugees from Nauru and Manus Island. The White House press office now says if the President does allow it to proceed, each person will undergo extreme vetting before coming to the US.
- A major operation is underway to remove a sprawling homeless camp outside Melbourne’s Flinders Street Station. They’re being offered transitional housing, but many say they’d prefer to stay on the street.
- Anti-violence campaigners have called for an overhaul of Queensland’s bail laws after the tragic murder of Gold Coast woman Theresa Bradford at the hands of her husband who was out on bail after attacking her last year.
- Video has emerged of a scooter rider’s frantic morning commute in the Vietnamese city of Hanoi. The rider weaving between bikes, cars and trucks with just centimetres to spare.
- And it’s been a day of excitement and nerves for thousands of youngsters in New South Wales, starting their first day of kindergarten.
