CATHO ICON SET TO GO

A long-running fight to save the Catherine Hill Bay jetty appears to be over, with no developers showing interest in re-using the site as a function centre.

Owner, Lake Coal, will now apply to have the deteriorating structure demolished, as its restoration would cost close to $7-million.

Meanwhile, a $3-million Newcastle Council plan to commercialise Blackbutt Reserve will go on exhibition for public comment.
