A police presence looks set to return to Lochinvar, with the state government now calling for tenders to renovate the old station and its attached residence.
Advertising has already begun for a new officer to move into the station, with the building set to reopen its doors by the end of the year.
In June 2009, the government announced plans to sell the building and build a new station elsewhere in the town.
Liberal MP Robyn Parker claims the Keneally Government should never have closed the station.
