The protection of Woolgoolga Lake is to be the subject of a public meeting in the town tomorrow evening.
Coffs Harbour City Council is developing a management plan for the estuary which includes Darkum and Willis Creeks.
The waterway contains a variety of unique plants and marine animals which have been threatened by development.
The issue of artificially opening the lake to the ocean will be one of the issues covered by the management strategy.
The meeting will be held at the Woolgoolga Community Centre from 5pm.
