WATER RECYCLE AWARD FOR COFFS

Coffs Harbour’s $96-million water recycling plant has won a public works engineering award.

The plant, which opened last year, recycles 21 megalitres of water each day from the city’s sewerage treatment works.

The water is used for irrigating crops, gardens and the Coffs Harbour golf course.

The award recognises the approach the city has taken to minimising environmental impact during construction and operation.

The plant design also caters for future population growth.
