JOCKS SOCKS AND COLOURED PENCILS FOR BUSHFIRE TOWNS

The bushfires that tore through Victorian towns prompted an outpouring of sympathy and support from around Australia, and stirred some people to become instant fundraiser organisers.
What started as the idea of a couple of mums in the Maitland and Newcastle areas, today saw the last boxes of donated goods from 49 schools loaded onto a borrowed semi trailer, at Hunter Valley Grammar School.
As well as clean undies and kids’ colouring-in sets, four pianos and an assortment of other items are now heading for the Kinglake and Churchill communities via the St Vincent de Paul disaster relief centre in Melbourne.
