LIFEJACKET SURVEY BY NSW MARITIME

The high number of boating fatalities across the state has prompted New South Wales Maritime to undertake a review of safety measures.

In the past 10 years, 174 people have died in boating accidents, with half a result of capsize or someone falling overboard.

Maritime officals want boaties to take part in an online survey, with moves to make lifejackets compulsory for children and people in tinnies.

Feedback on the issue is being sought until the 8th of January next year.
