LANDHOLDERS TOLD TO LEAVE

North west landholders have been told to activate their bushfire survival plans with fires burning out of control.

Three major blazes are causing concern are in the Gywdir area, with fears two fires west of Bundarra could join them.

Late this afternoon several properties were under threat in the Towarra Road area, 50 kilometres west of Bundarra, with several homesteads evacuated.

A blaze 60 kilometres south west of Bingara has burnt out 5000 hectares of private property.

Another fire is threatening to spread to the Nundle State Forest, near Tamworth.

A pilot working on that blaze suffered minor injuries when he was forced to make an emergency landing.
Meanwhile crews have contained a fire at Premer, west of Quirindi.

Volunteers worked through the night at Mount Tamarang to build containment lines.
