The Cancer Council has released a report identifying the need for more radiotherapy units across the state, particularly in regional areas like the Upper Hunter.
“Radiotherapy is a critical part of cancer treatment, it’s required for over half of patients who are diagnosed with cancer, but unfortunately a third of those patients are missing out,” said Andrew Penman, Cancer Council CEO.
The report was discussed in Newcastle today, with radiotherapy patients naming limited access and the cost of radiotherapy as major obstacles.
