TAFE TEACHERS WALK OFF THE JOB

Port Macquarie TAFE teachers walked off the job this morning, joining their colleagues from across the state as part of an ongoing pay dispute.

The Teachers Federation says the Rees Government’s enforced changes would result in an increased workload of 20 per cent, in return for a 1.5 per cent salary increase each year.

The federation’s local TAFE representative says the changes will lead to the loss of about 3,000 part time teaching hours in the Port Macquarie-Hastings area.

Teachers voted unanimously to pursue further industrial action.
