NEWCASTLE PERMANENT APOLOGISES FOR ERROR

The Newcastle Permanent has apologised for an error which saw 18,000 customers overcharged to the tune of more than $4 million, last financial year.

The building society says some customers’ offset accounts weren’t properly linked to their home loans, so they were charged the wrong amount of interest.

It’s contacting and reimbursing everyone affected.
