SAWTELL BEATS DIGGERS IN COFFS CRICKET GRAND FINAL

Sawtell has won the Coffs Harbour Cricket Association trophy after defeating Plantation Diggers by three wickets with 18 overs to spare.

Last year’s premiers set a formidable target of 234 for Sawtell to chase on the opening day.

But Sawtell were equal to their rivals with the bat finishing 7 for 235.

Trent Dierick top scoring with 68 not out in a match winning partnership with Tim Welshford, who hit a half century.

Having taken 4 for 83 the day before, Welshford was named player of the match.

The win gave Sawtell three premierships, to the Diggers two, over the past five seasons.
