Tamworth Regional Council is investigating several suspected incidents of poisoning of the London Plane Trees along Barraba’s main street.
Council believes it’s been carried out over the past few weeks and up to 30 trees have been impacted.
It’s working with police and Queen Street businesses to review CCTV footage and identify who’s responsible.
Acting Parks and Horticulture Manager Hugh Leckie says if the poisoned trees die, it will be a significant cost to replace them.
