Eight people are suspected of having contracted swine flu in the Hunter and New England region, with at least two being asked to to isolate themselves at home.
The pair recently returned from an affected country with symptoms of the disease, and are awaiting test results.
Meanwhile, the meat and veterinary industry has assured consumers pork products are safe to eat.
