OPERATION SLOW DOWN CONTINUES

A motorcyclist has been charged after allegedly abusing police, before leading them on a pursuit on the Mid North Coast.

Officers spotted a Harley Davidson on Winery Road at Sancrox at around 2 o’clock yesterday afternoon, with the rider heard to be yelling abuse.

A pursuit commenced, with speeds reaching up to 150km/h in a 80km/h zone.

The rider was eventually arrested, and will face court in Port Macquarie in late October.

Meanwhile in the state’s North West, a 47-year-old woman has been charged after she was picked up for drink driving twice within the space of two hours.

Officers stopped a Ford Falcon on Fitzroy Street at Walcha at around 11 o’clock last night, the driver returning a blood alcohol reading of 0.096.

Her licence was suspended, before she was released.

She was later picked up travelling at 111km/h in a 100km/h zone on the New England Highway at Nemingha, returning a blood alcohol reading of 0.052

The 47-year-old was charged with a string of offences, and will face Walcha Local Court in mid October.

It comes as Operation Slow Down enters its second day, police so far issuing more than 2,500 speeding infringements, and conducting more than 106,000 breath tests.
