UNE VICE CHANCELLOR STEPS DOWN

The Vice Chancellor of Armidale’s University of New England has resigned.

Professor Alan Pettigrew, who was involved in a leadership dispute with former Chancellor John Cassidy last year, will step down after four years in the role.

Chancellor, Richard Torbay, says the Professor is leaving the UNE in a sound financial position, with enrolments on campus for the first semester up 10 percent.

He says he believes the university can work together with the council that’s working closely together at the moment, looking at these new opportunities and the search for a new vice chancellor, we’re going to be taking advantage of a positive future.”

Professor Pettigrew will step down in October.
