Mediation is continuing between Gwydir Shire councillors, following a dispute last month where five walked out of a meeting after supporting a no confidence motion in the mayor.
A Canberra-based consultancy firm was appointed to resolve the infighting, and its representatives arrived in the town late yesterday.
Gwydir general manager, Max Eastcott, says they met staff and councillors today, and meetings will continue tomorrow in a bid to reach a resolution before the next scheduled council meeting.
Mr Eastcott made the decision to appoint a mediator following advice from the Department of Local Government.
