An Armidale UNE lecturer will know tomorrow if his legal challenge to Canberra’s $900 stimulus payments is successful.
Appearing in the High Court this week, Bryan Pape argued the stimulus package breaches the Tax Bonus Act and the Constitution.
But the federal government says the payments are necessary to help the economy.
Mr Pape has reportedly said even if the challenge is successful, the government could still distribute the bonus by just giving a tax rebate.
