MACKSVILLE RAIL BRIDGE

The construction of a rail overpass at Macksville will resume following the resolution of a dispute over ownership of the structure.

The bridge, which will replace an aging timber rail crossing at Macksville’s industrial estate, was to have been completed by Christmas.

The Australian Rail Track Corporation halted work when it demanded the Nambucca Shire Council be responsible for raising the height of the bridge in the future.

A bureaucratic tussle between several state and federal agencies over ownership has now been resolved, and work will resume in the next few weeks.
