HUNTER BUDGET BREAKDOWN

  • Williamtown RAAF Base will get more cash for stage two of its redevelopment.
  • Commercial fishermen will get more compensation, either $20,000 or $25,000, depending if the state government reopens rivers in the wake of the Williamtown contamination scandal.
  • The WET Tax is being reformed, which means smaller vignerons will be able to claim less back. It’s also looking like backpackers will be slugged from the very first dollar they earn, but Treasurer Scott Morrison will make another announcement on that in a few week’s time.
  • The deregulation of university fees has been postponed.
  • And there’s very little news in the way of infrastructure, with the M1 link at Raymond Terrace and the Glendale interchange ignored.
