Police and emergency services are conducting counter-terrorism exercises in Coffs Harbour today, as part of Exercise Northern Exposure.
The operation is designed to test agency responses to mass casualty terrorist incidents in a regional setting, and will involve over 100 personnel from the Police Force, Fire and Rescue, RFS, SES and NSW Health.
The Australia-New Zealand Counter Terrorism Committee is funding the exercise, designed to ensure that local law enforcement and emergency service agencies have the skills to respond to incidents.
The public should not be alarmed but are reminded to remain vigilant and aware in countering terrorism.
