The Newcastle Knight’s Steve Simpson has announced his retirement after 12 seasons and 216 first grade games with the Knights.
Described as a tough uncompromising backrower, Simmo played 2 Country Origins, NSW Origin 13 times, 7 Australian Tests and the 2003 Kangaroo Tour.
An ongoing knee injury has seen Simpson off the field for part of this year and will rob him from playing in front of a packed crowd at Energy Australia Stadium.
