20-year-old Macksville cricket star Phillip Hughes has entered the record books as the youngest player to reach 1000 first class runs in one calendar year.
Hughes passed the milestone in the Sheffield Shield clash against Tasmania earlier this week when he scored 108 runs in his second innings.
Hughes, who scored 93 in the first innings, scored 58 per cent of the New South Wales total.
The young star will visit Coffs Harbour next week where he’ll conduct a batting clinic for talented juniors.
