A HERO’S FAREWELL

A commemorative service for the 25-year-old Australian solider killed in Afghanistan last week will be held in Armidale on Saturday.

Lieutenant Michael Fussell, who went to The Armidale School, was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated in Afghanistan last Thursday.

He was a member of the Sydney-based fourth battalion and was conducting a dismounted patrol when he and his team were struck.

The ceremony for Lieutenant Michael Fussell, whose parents still live in the New England, will be held at the Armidale Teachers College ahead of a private cremation on Saturday.

A memorial service was also held at the Royal Australian Regiment in Sydney today.
