An electrical fault has been blamed for a fire that destroyed a house at Jesmond overnight.
Emergency services were called to the two-storey, Mary Street home at around one o’clock this morning, where they found the property engulfed in flames.
It took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control.
The home’s occupants were out at the time.
