LIFE-SIZE WHALE IN TAMWORTH

A giant mammal will be one of the star attractions at the Public Schools Spectacular in Tamworth next week.

Students from Oxley Vale and Oxley and Tamworth high schools have been putting the final touches to a life-sized whale which has taken eight months to construct.

It’s made of stainless steel, aluminium and colourbond, weighing in at over 700 kilograms and is 10 metres high.

The mammoth task of moving the whale by crane will get underway next Tuesday.

It will be on display at the Capers event, breaching in a giant swimming pool complete with a working blow hole.
