A section of Taree’s Kolodong Road will remain closed until a specialist contractor can remove an old water main pipe containing asbestos material.
Pieces of the pipe, which was crushed during road works, were tested and found to contain a small amount of non-respirable fibrous asbestos.
The stretch between Neales Road and the sealed section of Kolodong Road will remain closed until mid-September.
Council says the site has been contained, and the material presents no danger to the public.
